Because of Eric Metaxas' diligence in research and excellence in writing, this book is on my short list of favorites. Not being a history buff, I didn't expect to eagerly devour this story; I was amazed at the excitement with which I stuck with it from start to finish. Bonhoeffer is now the "person from past or present whom I would most like to meet."

This book is very informative about a time period most of us did not experience. Helpful insight to a very crucial time in history.

Having spent my childhood fearing the outcome of the 2nd world war, I found this biography fascinating and thrilling to hear about how anti Nazi Germans, and particularly D. Bonhoeffer endured the ravages within their country. I had heard much about Bonhoeffer and had read several of his books, but I had little knowledge of all he had to experience before he was killed. Thank You!
