The set included all the volumes saving buy one at a time. While a little yellow, the pages and set were in good order and sent in good time.

I read the entire series when I was growing up and now I'm reading it with my kids. Having read the Harry Potter series with my family, I find Anne of Green Gables a nice break from the "Good versus Evil" theme of so many popular series (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and The Hobbit series). I didn't remember how funny the story was or how tongue in cheek LM Montgomery wrote her characters. There are a lot of little "morals" and enlightened spiritual aspects also embedded in the stories--which has been fun to discuss with my kids. Unfortunately, there are some racist depictions of the Canadian French and Indians--but we used that as a discussion point as well.

Someone loaned me the complete set. After reading all of them, I think they are the greatest classic books of our time. Loved Anne Shirley from the minute she told Marilla that they were "kindred spirits" and her whitty ways. She just worked her way into Marilla's heart. Then following her story, as she became a woman, the romance, and surviving the war, while looking for her husband. Such a lovely story. I have recently found more books by L M Montgomery that I plan on reading. I would recommend this book to everyone.

My all time favorite book is Anne of Green Gables. I think I'll re-read the entire series. It is fruit for the imagination and spirit. All young girls should read it. Pass these books to your daughters and pass on bygone morals and values...
