Surprise Disappointment by John Irving May 20, 2009
by BelowParforIrving
I found this book to be rather pointless. While I enjoy the satire of John Irving and have read several of his books, I found this one to be almost depressing which is not the norm for Irving. I actually wondered if Mr. Irving was taking a bit of a "mental Sabaticle" when he wrote this.
I don't like to write anything negative about John Irving as he is my very favorite author and I would love to someday meet him. I find him totally fascinating. His character development surpasses all other authors I have read.
The 158-Pound Marriage just fell short of my expectations for an author of Irving's caliber.
