Because Senator Kyl has to leave, he would like to ask you a cou-ple of questions. YL Senator K. I just have one main question, and I will try to sub-mit written questions to the rest of you. But with proper training, could a person detect the counterfeiting of a U.S. passport if that passport has been screened into a computer from an off-site com-puter to, let's say, a DHS office here in Washington? VERITT Mr. E. I am sorry, sir. I am not sure I understand your question. YL Senator K. You take the passport in Omaha, Nebraska, and you screen it into a computer, which is connected to DHS. VERITT Mr. E. Yes. YL Senator K. A trained individual looks at that computer screen with the passport on it. Can you detect - to what degree of cer-tainty could you detect a counterfeiting of that U.S. passport? Mr. E. That is a service that actually the FDL provides VERITT through real-time support. What we would do then is we work - it is not a matter of us just looking at that scanned image. We would be on a two-way communication with that person. We are looking at the image. We are asking them questions - Do you see this? Do you see that? - looking for specific security features in the document. That two-way transaction, oftentimes we can help them make a determination, which is a probable cause determination, of whether or not that document is valid or not. Senator K. Excuse me.
