An interesting foray into the scientific study of religion. Science cannot comment on the content of religious belief but can elucidate the dynamics of how religions develop and how they go about the business of remaining viable. Stark's writing style is easy and casual, so a lot of information can be accessed with a minimum of effort. There is more to the story than this book covers, but Stark does what he sets out to do.
