Then came the dreams. Dark dreams that warned of the coming of the dark man. The apostate of death, his worn-down boot heels tramping the night roads. The warlord of the charnel house and Prince of Evil. His time is at hand. His empire grows in the west and the Apocalypse looms. When a man crashes his car into a petrol station, he brings with him the foul corpses of his wife and daughter. Stated First Edition, with the proper T39 code at the lower gutter of the last text page. SIGNED by the author on the front end page: 'For Dan, Best, Stephen King 8/22/80'. Fine book: unread and 'very' tight, straight, clean, unworn binding edges and corners, the gilt on the spine is bright and sharp, and the spine itself has none of the concavity or creasing you normally find with this very thick book when it has been read. The page edges are clean, binding corners sharp. The only thing I can find wrong with it at all is that the cloth at the upper spine end has a bit of flexibility to it but isn't limp or crushed. The Fine dustjacket has had 'no' restoration; it is price intact, crisp, clean and unfaded with no chips or tears; it does have an almost unnoticeable very thin vertical fold line to the front flap. This book is most of King fans' favorite, and rightly so. It is a superbly written book about an after-the-apocalypse world when a plague escapes a government lab and kills most of the population, and of the fight between good and evil among the survivors in the U.S. Filmed as a multi-part mini-series for TV. Reissued in 1990 containing the few hundred pages that the publisher made King shorten the book by in 1978. Collector's copy.; 8-7/16" x 5-3/4"; 823 pages; Signed by Author.

A lovely copy of a book that is a prime example of the poor manufacturing employed by Doubleday in the 1960s and 1970s. Generally encountered badly worn, collectible copies are difficult to find. Basis for the well-received 1994 mini-series with Gary Sinese, Ruby Dee, and many others.
i have really enjoy the book the stand I feel it is one of the b est books that he had written also I would reconned it to anyone. the book actually give more stuff than the movie. It keep you on your seat wondering what going to happen next. thanks for getting it for me kathy cox.
Well in my humble opinion it is the greatest piece of fiction I have read. The depth that you get to go into the lives and mins of each one of these characters is staggering. What a more over-played out theme (the struggle of good verses evil) to take onand truely do something original with. I can't ...
"The Stand" is by far my favorite of King's books! I was taken by surprise the first time I read it...I was expecting the usual horror that I had read previously (and enjoyed), like "The Shining," "'Salem's Lot," and "Carrie." But this was completely different! This is one of the best good vs. evil ...
