A detailed study by Margaret Fisher of Pound's never realized third opera; includes the first publication of Pound's unfinished translation of Catullus carmen 61, "Collis O Heliconii, " printed as facsimile pages in Pound's hand. At the back of the book, the engraved music includes Pound's musical setting of "Collis O Heliconii"-aria for bass-baritone, and Pound's musical setting of Sappho poem 1: "Poikilothron, " an aria for mezzo-soprano (both arias have violin accompaniment). The performance edition includes three intermezzi for violin which were found among Pound's opera manuscripts preceding the Sappho aria. The composition of the arias was influenced by Javanese music. The cover features a portrait of Pound by R. B. Kitaj. This is the third book in the publisher's series The Music of Ezra Pound. New copy, No Jacket (as issued), includes errata slip.
