This book is a compilation of translations of bits and bobs from a wide range of ancient Roman authors. It's arranged in chronological order. It has everything from sober historical facts, personal letters, speeches, gossip, to poetry. It's an excellent introduction to Roman writers. All of the major ones are represented, so it's a good way to get acquainted with them and see who you want to read more of. Everything is from half a page to 4 or 5 pages long, so it's good for skipping around in. There's a lot of pages... and a lot of substance.
