(There are no capital letters or puncuation, you see, because Archy types by climbing and flinging himself headfirst onto the keys of Don Marquis's typewriter at night).
With the coming of Archy we're off on a whirling tour of time and space, circa Prohibition, wherein Archy interviews the mummy of a pharoah, is himself interviewed by his fan club on Mars, chronicles the life of Mehitabel the alley cat, who claims to be the reincarnation of Cleopatra, coins certain maxims of Archy ("every cloud has its silver lining but it is sometimes a little difficult to get it to the mint; procrastination is the art of keeping up with yesterday"), goes on strike, and broods whether his writing is literature or not. All of this, and illustrations by the inimitable George Herriman creator of Krazy Kat. This is as good as whimsy gets."
