Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a friend and mom. Then Bernadette disappears. Bee compiles e-mail messages, official documents, and secret correspondence--creating a compulsively readable and touching novel.Bernadette Fox is notorious. I liked this book so much I sent it to three friends for birthday gifts. I is very funny and well written and has some interesting themes. It has much to do with disconnection, our relationship to art (well, architecture), and miscommunication and many other things. It would be a perfect beach read or a book to pick up if you're feeling down.

Funny, unusual, carefully written with strong characterization. Very discussible.

Couldn't Put it Down
This is a dryly funny book with a great mystery and great heart at its core. I loved the characters (including the city of Seattle) and enjoyed the way the book explored what happens to creative people who devote too much or too little of their lives to the work they love.
