An excellent copy in the unevenly tanned and lightly rubbed jacket with a few small marks and tiny nicks, and a closed tear to the upper spine fold that has been professionally repaired. First edition, first impression. Very scarce in the dust jacket. Account of Roosevelt's "zoogeographic reconnaissance" with the Brazilian explorer Rondon to discover if the Rio da D˙vida ("River of Doubt"), flowed into the Amazon. Traversing some of the most dangerous territory of Amazonia the party was successful and the river was renamed Rio Roosevelt, sometimes Rio Teodoro, in his honour. Howgego IV, R31.
