Delightful poetry with appeal to young people--birds and beasts, fairies and phantoms, croons and lullabies, songs of awakening, and much more by such poets as Robert Browning, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Carl Sandburg, Sara Teasdale, Christina Rossetti, Walt Whitman, Edwin Arlington Robinson, Robert Louis Stevenson, and so many more. Solid, generally clean binding of red cloth with yellow and brown illustration on front with brown titles, yellow title panel on spine with brown titles and illustration. There is a little greying of the yellow on front, otherwise quite clean. Faint wear to extremities. Library markings as usual, pocket on rear endpaper. Rear pages (380-445) have a pale brownish stain on lower corner, otherwise pages are quite clean and free of any markings. Full color frontis tissue protected. Tissue has tear up from bottom edge, about an inch. The featureless swordfighter in the frontis illustration has no clothes--someone has colored the tissue in ink to cover his torso up! 445 pages with index of authors, index of titles, and index of first lines. 8.2 x 5.4 inches. 1923, Harcourt, Brace and Company, New York, New York, USA.
