A history of transportation with chapters on sledges, horse-drawn carriages, stagecoaches, the development of roads, the horse-drawn omnibus, railroads, steam carraiges, motor cars, inland water transport, ocean transport, airships, and airplanes.

With a coloured frontispiece, many full-page monochrome illustrations (many from photographs) and several line drawings in run of text. Condition notes: The boards are somewhat knocked and rubbed, but bindings firm and pages clean and unmarked. There is a little foxing to the early pages, and what is probably water damage to the margin of the coloured frontispiece. prize label to front paste down dated 1945. External page edges soiled.
