The Must Have-Must Read Book for Theatre Artists

From my first reading of this book in 1959, to my most recent in 2007 (somewhere about 1978 I lost count of the number), this work has never failed to inspire me. It's lessons are applicable to theatre, film, opera and ballet. Actors, singers, dancers, and directors, as well as the designers, can profit from Jones' ideals and ideas. Nowhere else have I found such a wealth of information and inspiration in such easily understood language. Jones' designs at work can be seen in Vanity Fair starring Miriam Hopkins. I was privileged to see his work for Nijinsky's Til Eulenspiegel in a revival by the Paris Opera Ballet, and felt I was watching the book come to life. To my everlasting regret, there's no dvd.
