Unable to find people like herself, the Cro-Magnons, she settles there and seeks friendship elsewhere. First she adopts a young filly, then a wounded lion cub. But far to the west, two young Cro-Magnon brothers have begun a journey. One of them is Jondalar, whose destiny is bound inextricably with Ayla's. Jean Auel's imaginative reconstruction of pre-historic life, rich in detail of language, culture, myth and ritual, has become a set text in schools and colleges around the world.Read Less

Earth Children Series
This is a continuation of the first two books about Jondolar and Ayla, lovers in a prehistoric world. She is a medicine woman versed in plants and their uses. He is a strong handsome lover obsessed with Ayla.
Archeologic facts about their travels are accurate, according to experts. An engrossing, enchanting story that teaches as well as entertains.

We are buying the entire Earth Children series for our niece. My husband and I have both read the entire series several times and love "taking the journey" with Ayla. Jean Auel is a masterful author with incredible research. The Valley of Horses will have you crying, smiling, laughing, and worrying throughout. We highly recommend the entire series to everyone!

Ayla's Saga Continues
Clan of The Cave Bear readers will experience the same sensory-drenched tale of the ice-age orphan Ayla, adopted by The Clan, then expelled to go off on her own to seek "The Others". This massive episode brings us even closer to the character as she wanders the land at the southern borders of pre-historic European glaciers. The solitude she feels in this Eden-esque world is at times overwhelming. It is almost too easy to absorb the passionate feelings of Auel's unique characters. Man or woman, you will become Ayla...not just reading "about" her. A true page turner.
