Somewhere, somehow, there is an evil force in the hotel - and that, too, is beginning to shine ...

Wow!! Where do I even begin? This book is definitely high on Stephen king's top 10 list of his best books. I lost a lot, and I mean A LOT of sleep. One particular scene made me throw the book across the room and hide under the covers. The isolated hotel makes everything so much scarier! The way it snows so much there's practically no escape from the crazed father. The way Wendy and Danny try to escape is very suspenseful. When you get to that part, you won't be able to put the book down. I won't tell you whether they escape or not! You have to find that out for yourself. And the quality this book was in when I bought it was surprising. When I ordered it,the condition was good. I don't normally buy books where the condition says good, but I made an exception because it was a hardcover. When the book quickly came,I was surprised because the book looked between very good and like new!! And it only cost $0.99!! I got an amazing deal. I love alibris! And I'm sure you will too!!

This book is full of suspense. I went straight to my library to fing a copy of the book after seeing the movie. I was surprised at how different the book is. The isolation of the hotel works better in the book. The reader feels trapped with the reader and can sense the approaching doom. The family is entertaining to read, which is a good thing considering the cast is limited. The small cast helps the isolation affect.
The is a super scary book great to read at night or around Halloween.
