No better writing to be found

If you like good travel writing you'll love this series. If you like great writing in general, you have found utopia. The three books in this series were so engaging, I enjoyed that rare feeling in that I couldn't stop reading, yet all the while lamenting that eventually they would end. While reading her books, I could feel Carol Drinkwater's passions as if they were my own. Very rare. If you have ever had even the remotest fantasy of buying a home in France or any other foreign country you must read this book - right after you've read the Olive Farm. If you've never even considered living outside your own country, buy it for the sheer poetic prose Drinkwater delivers so beautifully and yet so convincingly that you would swear it was your own diary when you are in peak form (you wish) or at the very least one of a close relative. She has that inescapable capability of making one care deeply about the people and the events in her book. Not since reading Anne Tyler have I experienced this immersion in others daily lives. I was totally enchanted by her incredible writing.
