The DJ is in good condition with edgewear, slight discoloration of cover, tears, and sun fading on spine and back cover. The long career of New England's Samuel Johnson epitomized the trend of his native land toward toward a distinctive culture that would culminate in nationhood four years after his death. In tracing that career the author explores the intellectual and cultural forces in New England at a time when religion, education, and politics were undergoing drastic changes.
