They're called Lincoln Lawyers: the bottom of the legal food chain, the criminal defence attorneys who operate out of the back of a Lincoln car, travelling between the courthouses of Los Angeles county to take whatever cases the system throws in their path. Mickey Haller has been in the business a long time, and he knows just how to work it, how to grease the right wheels and palms, to keep the engine of justice working in his favour. When a Beverly Hills rich boy is arrested for brutally beating a woman, Haller has his first high-paying client in years. The evidence mounts on the defence's side, and he is sure this is going to be a slam-dunk. He might even be in the rare position of defending a client who is actually innocent. But as Haller knows, criminal cases can turn on a dime; when his case starts to fall apart and neither the suspect nor the victim are quite who they seem, Haller quickly discovers that when you swim with the sharks, it's easy to wind up as prey.

Very good in very good dust jacket. a 1/2 in. tear in top edge of d/j, author signature. Glued binding. Paper over boards. With dust jacket. 404 p. Audience: General/trade. SIGNED by the AUTHOR at the Los Angeles Festival of Books on 4/27/08. The movie based on the book followed the book fairly well, perhaps better than most books-to-movies. In this instance, instead of Connelly's favorite detective, it is the lawyer becoming a detective to solve another brutal murder-or two-in the wilds of Los Angeles. Connelly's experience of years as a beat reporter show thru again in this book as the reader never know exactly what is going to happen next.

I read everything by Michael Connelly and this audiobook was great -- unabridged and the reader was excellent too. This is about a new character by Michael Connelly. Not as compelling as Harry Bosch, but nonetheless a great story with lots of twists and suspense. I can never get too much of Michael Connelly!

I am an avid reader but have never read anything by this author. "Lincoln Lawyer" was a good read....Just a tad wordy with the legal details and plot development but worth it ! The author's writing style makes it feel like you are in the middle of a court room with him. Very Interesting plot. The book is suspenseful. and keeps you guessing. This book has it all....Love, Sex, Murder, Violence and Mystery.
