Ex Library with associated inserts, stamps, etc. An important and rare historical record of the Oliphant family from when they came to Scotland (1141) but concentrating mainly on their part in the Jacobite risings of 1715 and 1745. After the defeat at the Battle of Culloden Oliphant escaped firstly to Sweden and then to France. He was allowed to return to Scotland in 1763.
