Very Good. Size: 12mo 7"-7; This University Edition of Browning's complete works was published by Sully And Kleinteich of New York in 1899, and it consists of six volumes, complete. Sturdy, attractive set, bound in dark green cloth, with gilt top page ends, rough-cut fore-edges, frontispiece portraits to each volume, protected by intact tissue guards, and neither underlining, notes, nor highlighting. Gilt titles to spines, very minor amounts of shelf-and edge-wear, slight bumping to spine heads and feet. Volume I consists of Pauline, Paracelsus, Pippa Passes, etc. Volume II is comprised by Dramatic Lyrics, The Return of the Druses, etc. Volume III features The Ring and Book and other works. Volume IV contains Christmas-Eve and Easter-Day, Men and Women, etc. Volume V features Red Cotton Night-Cap Country, Aristophanes' Apology, and other works. The final, sixth volume contains The Agamemnon of Aeschylus, La Saisiaz, and a number of other lesser works. The set is heavy and oversized, quite handsomely produced, and looks great on the shelf. Volume VI has about four pages mid-way with slight, short closed tear to fore-edge. Volume II shows slight crimping to upper corner, barely noticeable.

Half gilt-ruled black morocco and marbled paper, gilt-stamped lettering and ornament in spine compartments (5 raised bands), t.e.g.; complete set of 12 volumes, 8vo; each with frontispiece and plates in 2 states. Autograph edition, number 90 from a limitation of 275 copies, signed by the publisher (Sproul) and editors (Charlotte Porter, Helen Clarke). Spines a bit sunned and scuffed, some with chips at crown (volumes 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12); upper board detached from volume 1. Internally nice and clean. An excellent working set.

A lovely set of Browning for the collector. No previous owner's names, not exlibrary. Overall a VERY GOOD set. Photos available upon request.

Thick 8vos, beautifully bound by Trautz-Bauzonnet in contemporary full red morocco with ornate gilt-decorated covers and spines with raised bands; gilt-stamped leather doublures and watered silk endpapers, uncut edges, top edge gilt. New York: George D. Sproul, 1899. The Connoisseurs Edition, number 37 of only 45 numbered copies signed by the Sproul, Porter & Clarke. Two volumes have very minor repair at spine ends but otherwise a fine set in a superior binding, with largely unopened pages.
