A year has passed since Ben Holiday bought the Magic Kingdom and claimed the throne despite the machinations of the wizard Meeks. Three loyal friends had come to his aid: the incompetent Court Wizard, Questor Thews; the court scribe, Abernathy, a talking dog; and the lovely willow, who was sometimes a tree. Now Ben dreamt of a former partner, Miles Bennett, in grave trouble. But when he returned to Earth, Miles was in the best of spirits. His home-coming to Landover was shattered by the disappearance of Willow and the partial destruction of Questor's books of magic. Not only that, no one seemed to recognise Ben himself. And Meeks had taken on Ben's appearance, and the role of king. Ben Holiday and his kingdom were in deep trouble.Read Less
Fair. Size: wb737; Mass Market Paperback. Book is well read but remains a good reading copy with all of the pages and binding intact. The spine has bends and the cover has wear from reading including rubbing and bends. May have writing or highlighting. Quick response.
As New in J Very Good jacket. 1st/1st, SIGNED. Flat signed by the author. This book is square, solid, unread and appears nearly brand new with barely a trace of shelf wear. Its unclipped, Brodart protected dust jacket bears some edge wear with a couple of tiny closed tears at the top of its spine and a longer 1/2 inch closed tear at the bottom edge of the back cover, but otherwise appears to be in perfect shape. You'll turn cartwheels of glee when this book gets to you! ! ! Signed: I Signed by Author(s)

Terry Brooks has a way of making a reader become immersed in his worlds. Ben Holliday has misfortunes, family tragedy and seeks a way to leave his life as a lawyer and seek a peace for himself. He discovers a catalogue that offers the chance to own a fairy kingdom. It beckons him and he succumbs to it's pull. He discovers Landover a land he buys and becomes king over. He meets and falls for a beautiful woman named Willow even though she has green hair and at times takes root in the soil to become a tree.
A talking dog that had been human until a semi-skilled wizard accidentally turns him into a rakishly dressed terrier and kobolds who not only cook but serve him as trackers on his travels.
The Black Unicorn can be read a a single episode or as one of the books in the series of episodes that make Landover and the living castle of Sterling Silver home and challenge for Ben Holliday. Friends from 10 to 65 have read the series and fallen in love with the characters and the search for the Black Unicorn that causes so much trouble, challenges from sprites, fairies, goblins, a dragon and disappearing friends for Ben.
I can only suggest that if you want a chance to escape into a world that many wish really did exist, this is one book of the series that will keep you enchanted, thrilled and ready to look for a catalogue of wishes of your own.
