The story of the American Revolution Battle of Cowpens in South Carolina in which 900 ill-fed, ill-clothed sharpshooters led by Daniel Morgan routed Banastre Tarlton's British regulars. This1781 engagement (named for a grazing meadow) lasted only an hour but was a military and psychological turning point late in the Revolution and set the stage fro the final cornering of Cornwallis at Yorktown.

Slightest hint of surface wear to spine corners, no fraying or bumping. Binding is tight & square, no cracking. Pages and edges are clean. Clean endpapers illustrated with maps. Printed Kenneth Roberts bookplate laid in. 111 pgs. with index. Dustjacket with price intact (3.50 at upper corner of front inside flap) does have small corner clips to front inside flap, light soiling, two closed edge tears (approx. 1"). Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. Fine in 1/4 blue and tan cloth covered boards with bold gilt text stamping on the spine and the author's initials circled with a wreath in gilt on the front board. An octavo measuring 8 1/4" by 5 1/2" with map end sheets. In a near fine, unclipped dust jacket slight wear at the upper edge of the spine. Published posthumously this account was one of Roberts' finest which focuses on the decisive American victory against a superior British force in South Carolina.
