Fine. Octavo. Inscribed by the Author Decorated paper wraps issue of the first edition. Inscribed by Heaney on the title page which features an engraving of a human-headed bird sitting on a branch. Above its head Heaney drew a cartoon bubble with the words, "What's Gatenby at to-night? " and signed "Seamus Heaney March 1986." Greg Gatenby, whose ownership name is on front endpaper, was head of the Harbourfront reading series in Toronto.
