Stuart Little is no ordinary mouse. Born to a family of humans, he lives in New York City with his parents, his older brother, George, and Snowbell the cat. Though he's shy and thoughtful, he's an adventurous and heroic little mouse. His daring escapades include racing a toy boat in a Central Park pond, retrieving his mother's ring from a drain, and crawling inside a piano to fix the keys for his brother. When his best friend, a beautiful little bird called Margalo disappears from her nest, Stuart is determined to track her down. He ventures away from home for the very first time in his life and finds himself embroiled in one exciting adventure after another, making new friends and meeting old ones along the way. This is a story of growing up, and ultimately of discovering oneself.

Fine in very good packaging. 2 cassettes. Audience: Children/juvenile. Narrator Julie Harris draws upon her extraordinary acting talents to raise this much-loved tale of a teeny, tiny explorer and his oversized adventures to new heights. "Stuart put on his sailor hat and his sailor suit, took his spy glass down from the shelf and set for a walk full of the joy of life and the fear of dogs. " Skipping from one precarious perch to the next, the diminutive wanderer makes new friends, meets old ones, and shares his lust for life with listeners of all ages. Harris's clever, lyrical narration is wonderfully evocative and perfectly captures the charming yet soulful spirit of E.B. White's classic children's tale. (Running time: 2 hours, 2 cassettes)
While E B While's celebrated Charlotte's Web receives a bit more attention, Stuart Little is also worthy of being in every home's library. The title character has wonderful adventures and the compassion shown for others, despite their differences, teaches worthwhile values.

Splendid Reading for All Ages
'Stuart Little' is that lovely thing, a book children and adults can enjoy, ideally together. Funny and smart and beautifully written, I thoroughly recommend this book. A wonderful quotation to remember: Stuart asks about the best, most important things in the world and a child responds; the smell of the neck of a baby whose mother keeps it tidy. Exactly! I will visit my granddaughter, aged four, in London later this year and I am so looking forward to the pleasure of reading 'Stuart Little' to her.

This book has always been one of my favorites as a child. I can hardly remember many other books I had read as a little girl but this one is unforgettable!
Stuart Little is an adorable mouse that touches your heart as he becomes part of a human family. The Little's end up adopting this little mouse as their second child, and there are many bumps in the road before he is accepted and loved by his human brother and family cat. A must read!
