I feel so much smarter after reading one of these books, for 2 reasons. Firstly, you learn interesting facts about our world, history, and important figures. Secondly, the drama of the Cahill family continues, and you learn much more about their ancestry.
This time Amy, Dan and their au pair get caught in hurricane weather while racing the Cahills through Jamaica. The siblings are definitely upping their status in the family line (if you've read the previous books, you know which "status" I'm talking about --- not to give away spoilers!)... as the race comes down to the wire. More secrets, betrayals and unfortunate events blot their Jamaican trip to locate pirate's treasure, but that won't stop these Cahill siblings.
Note to Parents: There is one issue I have with the book, which I define as a "con". The story mentions how some historical women joined pirate ships, disguised as men. There were a couple off-color remarks about how it would be discovered that the women, were in fact, women. This threw me off track while reading, as I didn't really like seeing this in a kid's book.
Regardless... I can't believe the hunt for clues is almost over! I'm definitely excited to see how the final trip will turn out, and then how the next series will resume the Cahill story.
