Also a map of Kenya. A very impressive production containing a far more extensive look at elephants than given to other animals. Text lightly toned but otherwise a clean, soundly bound copy. The tips are modestly worn through to boards, the upper front one most significantly so. Spine ends worn and frayed. Spine dulled but the gilt title remains easily readable.

Rear panel has a trace of scuffing else a near fine copy of this spectacular and massive book on the well known work of photographer, Marius Maxwell's of elephants in equatorial Africa. This huge book was limited to only 560 copies of which 250 were for sale in The United States with this copy being number 184. The book has been signed and numbered in ink by author Marius Maxwell on a limitation page at the front of the book. Additionally, this copy has the panoramic foldout four part folded photograph of a charging herd of elephants, which is stored in a pocket on the verso of the rear panel as issued. Preface by Sir Sidney F. Harmer, Director of The British Museum. A gorgeous copy of a an incredible book which is scarce, especially in this beautiful condition. A great book.
