From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "Elmer Keith (March 8, 1899-February 12, 1984) was an Idaho rancher, firearms enthusiast, and author. Keith was instrumental in the development of the first magnum revolver cartridge, the.357 Magnum, as well as the later.44 Magnum and.41 Magnum cartridges. ~ Keith was a prolific writer, writing both books and magazine columns. During the 1950s and 1960s, he was especially well-known for his regular monthly columns he wrote for Guns and Ammo magazine, typically exploring the performance of the latest new gun offerings, especially those firing large, heavy bullets, pushed to high velocities."; 335 pages.
Elmer Keith is the master when it comes to writing about sixguns. He led a colorful life as a cowboy, professional hunter / guide and most importantly as a gun writer for many years. He and his contemporary Jack O'Connor lived through the colorful years of the west during the 30,40 and 50's and knew how to portray their expieriences in their writings. This book is a classic which the afficinado of sixguns must have in his library. Unfortunately not many contemporary gunwriters (with the possible exception of John Taffin) have the knowlede and expierience of sixguns as Elmer Keith.
