This book is very witty and innovative. The story takes place in modern time, modern New York, but the catch is the monsters. The main characters are very accessible and it's very easy to get caught up in the plot. If you like Simon R. Green's Nightside Series then you should also enjoy Nightlife and it's sequel Moonshine. Cal, the main character, is a very sarcastic, interesting character. There are many references to mythology which add depth and complexity to the story. Overall, very enjoyable read and I highly recommend it.
