A goldmine of sources

by Ron Townsend on Mar 28, 2007

When I was taking an advanced organic chemistry course in 1968 at Baker University we were awaiting the release of the first edition of this book. Unfortunately, it was published later in the year but I used it extensively in my job as an organic chemist from 1970-1974. Basically, the references which included Organic Reactions and Organic Syntheses were excellent for finding similar reactions to apply to the work I was doing. I understood that the Organic Syntheses reactions were first run repeatedly by graduate students before they were published so relying on them was a plus. The introduction to each chapter was good and thorough. By the time I got back to graduate school again in 1976 I had had this book rebound. I highly recommend it to any practising organic chemist.
