Spurgeons Lectures to my Students, contain the substance of Spurgeons regular Friday afternoon addresses to the college students. This new complete and unabridged Banner edition contains all the lectures in the original first and second series, including The Ministers Self-Watch, The Preachers Private Prayer, The Ministers Fainting Fits, The Holy Spirit in Connection with our Ministry, The Need of Decision for the Truth, and On Conversion as our Aim. Also included is a third series of lectures, originally published as The Art of Illustration, which focuses on the nature, use, and sources of illustrations and anecdotes in preaching. To make this new edition as complete as possible, the publisher has also included Spurgeons Commenting & Commentaries, with two further lectures and a fascinating and humorously annotated catalogue of commentaries. This catalogue will produce enthusiasts for books, it also opens up a new world by its well-placed signposts to the riches of the past.
Acceptable. A readable copy. All pages are intact, and the cover is intact (However the dust cover may be missing). Pages can include considerable notes--in pen or highlighter--but the notes cannot obscure the text. Book may be a price cutter or have a remainder mark.
I have read this book carefully. I was contacted by the seller that he had spotted several notes that were not in the description. I decided to purchase the book anyway. It turns out that this book was from the personal library of the seller, a book that he used in preparation for the ministry. The notes were thorough and indeed priceless. I read and digested the matter contained in the text and notes, and after sitting through a sermon given by a young divinity student during our Pastor's absence ended up giving it to him. Even without the notes, Lectures to My Students written by the great Charles Haddon Spurgeon gives timeless advice to Pastors and would be Pastors. This book was a real treasure for all who are even interested in the ministry. The young man I gave the book to is bright well intentioned, but not ready for primetime. This book that he now owns will go a long way in preparing him for his calling. Any advice from Spurgeon, probably the finest preacher of his century is priceless and ageless.
