Very Good/Very Good. 8vo Dust jacket complete. Brown cloth boards, gilt titling and decorations. Name plate on f. paste down. A very few spots. 132 pages clean and tight. NORMAN DOUGLAS has taken us back over his books, noting the circumstances in which they were written, how he feels about them now, and commenting in, to use his own words, " a quite haphazard fashion, quite indiscriminately on anything else which those circumstances suggest." The result is a book which he writes with as much wit and pungency as ever. NORMAN DOUGLAS takes us to Capri, to the oases of the Tunisian desert where he wrote Fountains in the Sand, to Syracuse and to the Summer islands of Ischia and Ponza. A reprint of his two essays on these islands is included since the original has been long out of print. The book includes character studies of many of Mr. Douglas's companions throughout his long life and some of these are identified as characters in his books. FINALLY he deals with the period during which he was assistant editor of the English Review and gives us a brief selection from his book reviews of the period, reviews which will remain of interest long after the books are forgotten. THIS book is a retrospect of great charm which will delight his many admirers.
