A fantastic introduction to a rarely-taught subject... more specifically, what "happened" during the time period between the Old and New Testaments.
Scott gives a thorough overview of everything from geology to political climate to religious climate, including customs, international attitudes and more.
A portion that I particularly enjoyed was the discussion of different factions (or denominations, if you will) of Judaism at the time of the birth of Christ. I believe Scott mentions at least 10 major "flavors" of Judaism, their primary locations and their unique attributes.
Best of all, your understanding--and therefore, your hermeneutics--of the New Testament will be impacted.
A wonderful text that will help any student, pastor, or teacher communicate better.
