Wonderful, easy-to-read and recall, serious yet light-hearted book about dogs and one of their "owners" and biologist-observers. Three-quarters of the way through, I'm ordering copies for friends and have noted a slew of questions for the author, who deserves congratulations for switching between observing her dog, interacting with it, and more expository, precisely informative passages, which makes for factual reading that is also personal, idiosyncratic. Useful, helpful, informative, and entertaining.

I quickly got bored with it, too technical and not interesting enough.

This book was fascinating. Never thought I would ever read (let alone enjoy!) a book about dogs! I don't even HAVE a dog (although my dad does). This book was insightful, pithy and fascinating. I bought it for my dad, I liked it so much.

From a Dog's Point of View
This is a terrific book! Anyone who owns a dog should read it. Excellent research and insight combined with a good dose of humour, the book is very readable.

Know your best friend even better!
This well-written and wonderfully insightful book is a perfect gift for the person who has "fur kids", a family dog, or a dog-related business.
It's enjoyable for a casual read, and helpful if you're having a problem with a newly adopted family member.
