Very Good in Very Good jacket. Book. 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" Tall. Hard cover, dust jacket. Very good/ very good. Dust jacket, price clipped. This is a complete survey of the sighting of flying saucers--from 1860 to the present. Describing in detail where, when, and what the sightings were, it includes accounts of the witnesses, opinions pro and con, and a report on what U.S. Government agencies are doing about investigating the flying saucer phenomenon. Approaching the controversial subject from both sides, Robert Loftin details accounts of those sightings that still remain unexplained by natural causes, as well as those that have turned out to be hoaxes. He has worked closely with UFO organizations to get their analyses of sightings, and includes accounts of flying saucers seen not only in the United States, but abroad, as well. Special attention is given to studies of flying saucer landings that have not been widely published in this country, including one in Spitsbergen, and other in Helgoland, Germany. The book also presents a thorough study of the 1965 "Saucer Flap"--886 total sightings for the year, with a baffling concentration around Hartshorne, Oklahoma. Readers who have been familiar with the subject of UFO accounts will find much new material here. Those who are reading about this fascinating phenomenon for the first time will discover an excellent introduction to the significant happenings on the flying saucer front.
