I Don't Know What I Want But I Know It's Not This: A Step-By-Step Guide to Finding Gratifying Work
by Julie Jansen (Translator)
This is was the first and is still the best book I have found which takes what appears to be a common pattern in the dissatisfaction which certain people feel about a certain phase in their careers as midlife crisis, and shows them that what they are experiencing is in fact a common pattern. It also teases apart some of ths distinctions between more common variations in the pattern. The discovery of the nature of the dissatisfaction can be helpful in figuring out what to do instead of what one is doing. This is done in a way which requires less effort to understand than understanding what I wrote above.
I found the advice on what to do instead rather too generic to be easy to apply, but I not only would recommend the book in theory, but have already recommended it to someone.
This is a book you may want to write in, so if you buy it used, try to be careful about the condition of what you are buying. Other people's notes may confuse your cogitations.
