Biography of George Washington, the Father of his Country, beginning with his grwoing up on a plantation in Virginia. As he grew older he took part in the affairs of Virginia, then of the struggling colonies. slight soiling to the front cover, some wear to the corners.
Good in Fair jacket. Illustrated paper covered boards with a matching dust jacket. Not price clipped. Folio. Unpaginated. Black and white and color illustrations throughout, using the process of stone lithography. A biographical story on the life of George Washington, written for children, and capturing the culture and times in which he lived. Ingri and Edgar Parin D'Aulaire were noted book authors and illustrators, most often collaborating on works, and winning the Caldecott Medal in 1940 for their book on Abraham Lincoln. FAIR jacket on a VERY GOOD book. Rear jacket panel with several large superficial scuffs/scrapes, resulting in the colored paper peeled away to the white beneath. General browning to the jacket, with minor soiling and a few small stains. Minor bumping, chipping and tearing along the extremities, with some curling and creasing. Light fading, browning and soiling to the book.
