Excellent book. A truly heart warming story of the incredible sacrifice our military men and women make for everyone's life and freedom.

A Real Heartwarmer
In spite of all the really horrible events, this renews a bit of faith in humanity.

Tugs at your heart for both puppy and soldiers
I would really give this book 3.5 stars. I really enjoyed the story but found the writing a little stilted. Still, I would highly recommend it simply for the depiction of what many of the soldiers and others go through in Iraq and how trying to save a puppy provoked an internal struggle for those soldiers. I was touched to see a soldier describe how soldiers struggle to hold onto their humanity among so much destruction. If you're expecting a loveable, touchy, feely story...don't. There are many parts of the book that are difficult to read (but important). I applaud the author for not sugar coating his work.

This book was a touching, loving book that reminds you that although our men are fighting in Baghdad that they still have sentimental feelings. That you can be tough when you have to be but also gentle when needed. It was great reading and I think that it should be highly reccommended to be read in schools. It also shows how real feeling are and how people really care about each other by the way of helping. A truly great read.
