You need a sense of humor

by fhholmesy on Jun 23, 2007

This is the third in Flashman series that I have read. Harry Flashman is a lovable cad, womanizer and coward. I can't wait to get into the next book. I have ordered all the books in the series. I love the way Fraser interjects Flashy into history. When Flashman explains how he started the charge of the Light brigade the setting is so plausible that you have check to make sure it isn't true I love historical fiction that lulls you into believing the fictional characters are real. Sometimes you just can't figure out how he is getting into all the scrapes and then you wonder how he will escape this time. Generally, Harry's problems are caused or exacerbated by his womanizing. I've read all of Bernard Cornwell's series on Sharpe and loved them also. The Sharpe series is more serious with much more detail in the battles, but Flashman is far more humorous and gives you a different historical slant. Loveum.
