Oblong volume (9.5" by 6.5"), unpaginated (16 pages), illustrated with a tipped-in hand-coloured lithograph by Claire Van Vliet, as well as two small page illustrations and a map. From the colophon: "The lithograph was printed from the stone by Eystein Hanche-Olsen at SKHS Oslo; the text is handset Trump Mediaeval italic and printed on Toyama Kayazuki; bound with Kizuki paper over museum board by James Bicknell." The edges of the paper boards are a bit sunned; the cloth spine and its paper label are unblemished. A particularly elegant production of one of the poet's most moving verses.

From the vantage point of a hilltop pine tree which he has climbed, Fergus can see a pond where death, apparently, waits in the form of an old fisherman who "sits in the dry gray wood of his rowboat, waiting for pickerel." With a lithograph and 2 linecuts from drawings by the designer and printer Claire Van Vliet.
