Part I includes text by Michener illustrated by Levine's woodcuts, plus four lithographs; Part II is Levine's sketchbook with 54 pochoir and phototype process reproductions of Levine's watercolors, gouaches and drawings, finished by hand, and housed in a goatskin leather portfolio. Both parts are housed in a pale pink moire silk clamshell box, measuring about 13" x 20", with goatskin closure. Fine condition, new and unread, in publisher's original mailing box. Stunning folio set of drawings with text by James A. Michener and lithographs and woodcuts by Jack Levine enclosed in a silk covered clamshell box with a large belt-like closure on the front cover. Box has light age toning that is not evident until the belt closure is unclasped and the slightyl lighter original cover underneath is revealed. Michener's text and the four individual lithographs on Rives paper are encased in a folio matching the clamshell box with the same belted closure. The fifty-four watercolors, gouaches and drawings from Levine's sketchbook are printed on Ingres paper and are encased in a black leather folio. The Prospectus for this edition laid in the clamshell box.
