I am an experienced FPGA programmer so I didn't know what to expect. Gina Smith does a bang-up job of talking about the "work flow" of the entire FPGA process, from concept to programming the chip. You can tell that she "gets it" and the worked examples are well thought out. If you follow her advice, you'll save yourself a lot of hard learning time. This is a most excellent reference for FPGA newbies. FPGAs aren't going away, so you will want this book on your shelf. Every college EE-wanabe needs it.
