Frederick Varley. Very Good in Torn and Worn jacket. Larger 4to. Ink inscription on ffep, color and b/w illustrations, sketches of Eskimo life, photographs of Eskimo carvings, and discussion of their way of life.
Black cloth, square quarto. Well illustrated with colour and black & white reproductions of Varley drawings and some of Flaherty's carvings. Ink name at front, covers just a mite bowed, VG+ otherwise. White dust jacket has a 3 inch tear to front panel, shorter tears, small chips, elsewhere; light soiling; just good. Issued as Explorations #9 (the last of the first series), Marshall McLuhan's media journal, though McLuhan himself made no contributions to the volume. The three pieces were independently written. Carpenter contends that the primary spacial model of the Eskimo / Inuit is acoustical rather than visual. Note: 1.5 kg parcel, extra shipping will be required.
Used-Acceptable. Dust Jacket has considerable wear to edges, including a couple small tears. Dust jacket has heavy tanning, due to aging. Dust jacket does however come neatly wrapped in a clear Brodart cover. Book itself has moderate tanning to edges, but is neat, clean, and crisp. Binding feels great.
