Compelling

by henryjh on Aug 25, 2014

Amazing, exciting, touching and depressing. What a read! Mostly a history of the struggle for the vast plains, with two biographies, of mother and son, each brief but wrenching and each involving a remarkable cultural leap, in opposite directions.

Brilliant!

A fascinating historical account of the plains indians, and the Comanches in particular. Brutal, honest, and filled with facts and explanations of the why and wherefore of all aspects of indian life and their white pursuers, which eventually results in their subversion. Hard to put down!

Quanah Parker story needed to be told

The residents took it on them selves to find a name and chose Quanah Parker Hall. The residents cheated their mailing addresses to Parker Hall and soon all the mail was coming to that address and eventually the University officially changed the name. Then the Parker family brought in a picture and mounted it in the lobby.
