Freeman's mentions an incomplete edition of the same year (F2067), however we have not been able to locate any copies at libraries or auction. Octavo (8 11/16 x 5 1/2 inches; 220 x 136 mm). We could find no copies at auction in the last 50 years and we could only locate 3 copies on OCLC, at the Huntington Library, The Universidad de Navarra and The Library at The Royal College of Surgeons of England. The Kohler Darwin collection does not have a copy of this edition. Full publisher's green cloth. Boards tooled in black, lettered in gilt. Spine stamped in black, and lettered in gilt. Drab gray endpapers. Head and tail of the spine with some minor shelfwear. Minor stain down the front board. Binding slightly skewed. Text a bit foxed. A small previous owner's stamp on front free endpaper. Overall a very good copy of this rare edition. The first Spanish, of 1877, contains two letters from Darwin which have not been printed elsewhere. "Cartas de Mr. Darwin. April, 28th 1876 Down Beckenham, kent. Dear Sir: I am much obliged for your etter (sic) of April 21th (sic) and for the present of your work and the Review. I shall be pleased and honoured to have my book translated in Spanish, by which means if may be Known in the large kingdom of Spain, and in the widest extended regions where spanish is spoken. I directed my publisher to send a copy of the Origin by post to you yesterday. No fasther (sic) authorisation is required than this note. I have nothing to add to the spanish edition, and will only add my sincere hopes that it may be sucersful (sic). I have the honour to remain dear Sirm yours faithfully. Ch.
