Fair. 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall. 201 pages. Illustrated. Index, Appendix, Reference and Further Reading. The classic work by the Texas archaeologist and author of FIELD METHODS IN ARCHAEOLOGY and A FIELD GUIDE TO STONE ARTIFACTS OF TEXAS INDIANS. A good copy in illustrated soft covers. The latter are moderate-to significantly worn and rubbed. The text is very clean and very sound. This bookseller, incidentally, remembers using this title as an anthropology textbook during his days at the University of Texas at Austin.
Very Good. From a private collection. No writing or highlighting and the pages are still white. The page edges are clean. The covers are straight with a little bit of edge wear. The book is in very good condition. 1.
Near Fine in Wraps: shows only the most minute indications of use: just a hint of wear to extremities; mild rubbing and faint soiling to the wrapper covers. Binding square and secure; text clean. No longer pristine, but remains very close to 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. 201pp. Preface by John Graves. Illustrated with drawings and photographs in black & white. First Ed Thus; unstated. Paperback. This book is by far the best review and introduction to Central and South Texas Archeology that exists for the amateur. I have read dozens of books and articles on archeology of Texas and this one is written like a short course for those with no archeology background or lots. The author, Dr. Hester, has been teaching and digging into South Texas archeology most of his adult life. You will not find anyone more knowledgeable. This book is also wonderful preparation for the younger and older amateur archeologist that wants to learn about the artifacts and prehistoric culture of South Texas, and maybe have fun digging with many of the archeology societies around Texas. It is a must read for anyone interested in archeology of Texas, or archeology in general--and Indiana Jones would love it!
