Bulky but useful
This facsimile reproduction of the classic tome on pre-revolution Haiti (then known as Saint-Domingue) is huge. The publisher uses heavy stock and and oversize format and the reproduction has all the printing flaws of the original. The result is a 3-pound brick that makes you think twice about taking it with you on a plane trip. But unless you can afford an original first edition or get your hands on one of the slimmer French reissues, this is probably the best you can do. St. Mery is still indispensable for anyone doing research on the 18th century Caribbean or on Haiti specifically.
