Very Good. No Jacket. Book. 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall. 165pp + 7p book catalog; numerous b/w illus. Minor foxing of first few pages, otherwise a nice example of the first edition, with bright gilt dec to the front cover and spine.
Very Good- 8071. jpg. Spine very slightly darkened with a tiny tear to bottom edge along spine, but lettering still bright. Elaborate blue cloth decorated covers with gilt edges adorn this volume which contains articles republished from Harper's "with considerable additional material". The book discuss the European art scene in detail. Interesting and lively discussion of artists of the day, types of art, etc. 6 pages of ads in rear. Previous owner name in pencil dated Christmas 1877.; B&W Illustrations; 8vo 8"-9" tall; 165 pages.
Fair. No Dust Jacket. Elaborate gilt stamp front board is clean and still fairly bright. Fraying to the bottom of the spine cloth. One signature of pages loose from binding (10 pages)--could be re-attached by gluing or sewing. Front hing cracked and rear hinge is weak. Some spotting on title page and a few other pages. First edition, not a reprint.
