Small 4to. Blue cloth, gilt. xx, 412pp. Frontispiece, illustrations. Very good. Spine ever-so-slightly dulled. First edition, tight and handsome, of this posthumous memoir by the turn-of-the-last-century American humorist (1850-96). Nye's oldest son (and here co-author who provided the "Continuity" referred to on the title page) inscribes the front flyleaf big and bold "For / Mr. Harry Johnston / with kind regards / Frank W Nye / Sept 20-1927."
Great book, written by Edgar Wilson ("Bill") Nye's son Frank ("Jim") Nye. Frank was nicknamed "Jim" after family friend, poet James Whitcomb Riley. Edgar was nicknamed "Bill" after a character in a silly poem by Bret Harte.
