Very Good/Very Good Dust Jacket. A Very good hardcover volume of this classic, this copy has a former owner's gift inscription to half-title page, otherwise bright, solid and otherwise clean; in lightly edgeworn dust jacketd (which is now protected by a mylar wrapper). The Fourth Edition, Printing of 1971, Revised By Joel W. Hedgpeth. This is a later printing the fourth edition, which first appeared in 1968, completely revised, expanded and reset from earlier editions, with many new photos and drawings added, including 8 pages in color. Much new material was also added to the text, plus an Annotated Systematic Index, Bibliography and Glossary.614 pages, Profusely illustrated, with many black and white photo plates, 8 pages color photos, maps and line drawings.
Ex-Library w/marks. Ex-Library w/marks Dj. 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall. Earlier editions had a forward by Steinbeck-but this one does not-although it mentions the Stenbeck forward. There is also no color frontis plate-may have been removed or was never there in the first place. This 4th edtion is somewhat scarce and I can't tell what the issue points are. It is 614 pages and is complete-unless it had a color frontis picture.
